School Assembly
Just Say It brings the world of slam poetry directly to your school. Our assemblies feature the top touring poets offering students a firsthand experience of the heart of a slam.
Our assemblies transform your auditorium into an arena of words and rhythm. Students don't just watch – they become active participants, judging and scoring performances as if attending a real poetry slam. By bringing Just Say It to your school, you're not just hosting a performance – you're sparking a movement that empowers students to express themselves, connect with others, and make a difference in their communities through the power of spoken word

Classroom Takeover Poetry Workshop
A classroom takeover workshop serves as an introduction to the world of slam poetry. Our teaching artists guide young authors to deepen their understanding of literature and critically develop their craft. Pens fly across pages as young minds delve into writing exercises, unearthing powerful emotions and imagination.
By the time the bell rings, your classroom will have witnessed the birth of new poets, the strengthening of community bonds, and the unleashing of untapped creative potential – leaving students inspired and eager for their next encounter with the power of spoken word.
Poet-in-Residence
Our Poet-in-Residence program partners professional teaching artists with phenomenal educators to bring the art of creative writing and centering youth voices to classrooms in New Jersey. In this 6 to 12 week course young writers will receive art education instruction that aligns with learning standards from a Just Say It resident poet. We work closely with educators to tailor our programs to your school's unique needs, whether that's integrating poetry into existing curricula, establishing after-school poetry clubs, hosting a poetry slam in your school, or hosting a school-wide slam poetry assembly.
This collaborative approach maximizes the impact of the program, combining the mentor's specialized knowledge with the teacher's understanding of their students' needs and academic goals.
Bring the transformative power of poetry to your school and watch as your students discover new ways to express themselves, engage with language and critical thinking, and explore their world through poetry.
School Slam or Open Mic
Just Say It helps young people create sustainable spaces of self-expression and art in their school communities. Whether it's a shy student finding the courage to share their first poem or a seasoned young writer experimenting with new writing, an open mic or poetry slam is a transformative experience.
Hosting an open mic in your school creates a supportive outlet for students to share their original works alongside one of our teaching artists, in language art classes, or poetry club.
For those ready to take their poetry to the next level, a poetry slam creates a brave space to inspire students to share their writing. This slam isn't just a competition; it's a launchpad for young voices to make their mark on a larger stage, inspiring a new generation of poets and change-makers.
